Our new Administrator Fr. Ranulfo Docabo
After waiting patiently for the Lord to send us a new pastor we are so thankful to end this year knowing and trusting Him that we are blessed to have Fr. Nol
accept the assignment as our new Administrator. Let us welcome him and give thanks as we welcome the New Year 2021!!
Here is a letter from Father Nol:
I am Reverend Ranulfo Doria Docabo, but my friends call me Father Nol. You can certainly call me by the same name since we will come to be friends too. I was born on May 7, 1966 making me 54 years old. At the age of thirteen, I entered the Immaculate Heart of Mary minor (high school) seminary in my home diocese – the Diocese of Tagbilaran in Bohol, Philippines. I then entered San Jose Major Seminary, Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Philippines to pursue my philosophy (college) and theology (post-graduate) courses. After nine years of formation and studies under the tutelage of my Jesuit mentors, I was ordained to the diaconate in August 1992.
In less than a year, on April 21, 1993, I was ordained to the priesthood. After eight years of service in my home diocese, I was sent to Rome, Italy to take up Licentiate in Sacred Scriptures. During the summer months of 2002 to 2005, I served at different parishes in the Archdiocese of Newark here in NJ, including the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, the Church of St. John Nepomucene in Guttenberg, and the Sacred Heart Church in North Bergen.
I briefly served at the Archdiocese of New York, St. Patrick’s Church on Staten Island, from January to October of 2011. In mid-October, I received my new appointment to become one of the associate pastors of St. Michael Church in Union, where I served for almost five years. In July 2016, I was then assigned to Our Lady of Mercy Church in Jersey City where I served as parochial vicar for four and a half years. And this past November 25, the day before Thanksgiving, I received a call from Cardinal Tobin appointing me as Administrator here at St. Anthony's.
As instructed by the Cardinal, I began my new ministry here at Saint Anthony's last Tuesday, December 15, 2020. I have been here with you for almost a week, and am excited to work and make a positive difference in this parish community. I look forward to meeting all of you in the coming days. Please include me in your prayers, as I assure you of mine. Although faced with many challenges, mainly financial, I am hopeful that as I share my priestly life and ministry in the days and years to come, we will continue to grow in our love and service to God and with one another. God bless us all!
